Garden Maintenance

There’s no such thing as a no-maintenance garden, and even the most cared-for spaces require a little extra attention from time to time.

For regular garden maintenance, I’ll come by 1-2 times a month, or however much it takes to support your garden so it stays happy, healthy, and vibrant. For a general boost, I also offer ad hoc tidy-ups and overhauls to keep your garden looking its best.

Services include weeding, shrub pruning, cutting back, topiary, plant and bulb planting, and mulching (soil improvement).

.

You may also be looking to undertake a larger garden makeover. No matter what condition your garden is in, I’ll work with you to reveal the hidden beauty underneath, evaluating what can be salvaged and doing the groundwork to get your garden back on track.

No two gardens are the same, which is why I approach each project with fresh eyes and individual ideas. Considering elements such as soil conditions and natural light levels, I’ll work with your garden to create a unique planting design that will suit both you and your home.

Perhaps things are looking a bit tired, or maybe you’re just looking to give a new lease of life to your outdoor space. Improving established borders or redesigning certain areas will give your garden vibrancy, and is an effective way of brightening up your view.

All plants are chosen for texture, colour, shape, and your personal tastes; and I aim to blend the planting seamlessly with the overall feel and style of the garden.

Planting Designs & Border Redesigns

.

my process

During the initial discussion, we will discuss what your aims are, including your budget, what elements of your garden you like, and to what scale you’d like to adapt things. I will give you a quote for the design only, and visit the garden to do a simple site survey and create a mood board that will be shared with you. This will allow us to collaborate on ideas so that I can design a garden that’s personal and unique to you.

Once we’ve agreed on a final planting design, the hand-drawn plan will be presented to you with botanical names and the numbers of plants required. From here I’ll supply a quote for the supply and planting which I can source, position, and plant, or you are free to do this yourself.

Sourcing & Supplying of Plants

I work with local trade nurseries to supply the best quality plants, compost, and mulch. While you are of course welcome to source your own, it is generally more cost-effective for me to buy plants compared to those that you will find at the garden centre.

My Approach

I always employ eco-friendly approaches to my work, never using harmful chemicals, and preferring to develop soil improvement and good garden practices. Chemical-free gardens are rich with biodiversity, birds, and wildlife which will in turn help manage the pests for you and provide a safe environment for your family, friends, pets, and local wildlife.

Most of my tools and equipment are handheld, and only a small number are battery-powered to leave less of an impact on the environment.

A Word on Waste

I am not able to provide waste clearance. Many of my customers use the local garden waste service provided (at a cost) by the council, for which you can find more information here.

Wherever possible, I will try to locate a suitable place within your garden to develop a compost heap, thereby also helping to make useable compost in the future. However, depending on the size and space available, this isn’t always viable.
